THE BAUHAUS

Form Follows Function

promote innovation and cosmopolitan design throughout the world. Among all members of the Bauhaus was an idea that form follows function. This meant that the function of the piece would determine the form and design. This idea promoted efficiency and environmental awareness. Bauhaus design requires only few resources which are often recycled materials. 

The Bauhaus was founded in 1919 by Walter Groupois. His idea was to start an art school that would promote innovative design for the people. This school was the start of one of the most influential design movements of the 20th century. The Bauhaus suffered from much criticism and was even subject to harassment by the Nazis. Thankfully the Bauhaus was able to survive and
